Bespoke contingency planning for a nuclear decommissioning unit
We provide contingency support to a major government nuclear decommissioning company. The company is responsible for decommissioning 12 nuclear sites and 1 hydro-electric plant across the UK, delivering safe, efficient and consistent solutions for hazard reduction across all sites.
We were contacted to provide guaranteed support in the event of a major failure of mains power. Our specialist team worked with the Scheme Delivery Manager to develop a contingency plan, in order to provide immediate, robust support in the event of an emergency.
Due to the hazardous natures of the sites, careful consideration had to be given to how best to access sites in the event of an emergency. Based on our contingency plan, we provide same-day support to a specific strategic site location in the event of a power outage. Our solution comprises a trailer-mounted 35kVA generator, fuel, cables and distribution board configuration.
We were the only company able to provide a cost-effective, bespoke contingency plan in line with their specific requirements.
