Utilities, Government

Power failure is not an option for the main hospital on the remote island of Saint Helena.

Our customer required a robust and reliable power solution โ€“ essential for a critical facility in a hard-to-reach location. Saint Helena is a British Overseas Territory lying 1,200 miles off the west coast of Africa. Its nearest neighbour is Ascension Island, 703 miles away.

Working with our clientโ€™s strategic partner, we supplied a HIMOINSA HBW-400-T5 – a 405kVA prime-rated back- up generator. We also conducted a fully-remote 4 hour Factory Acceptance Test schedule, with colleagues dialling in from St Helena, Spain & the UK to demonstrate & ensure the unit met the stringent customer specification prior to shipping. We also designed & supplied a custom flue which was shipped in kit form to be assembled on site along with a matching automatic transfer switch.

Once our client’s local engineering team had installed the equipment, our engineer travelled to site & fully tested & commissioned the unit in coordination with the other power upgrades conducted at the time.

The result is a dependable solution that will provide back-up power when needed.
