Emergency offshore support in the North Sea
A leading marine company on behalf of a North Sea oil & gas services provider contacted us to provide emergency power support.
The emergency call-out involved the supply of a 2100kVA, 60Hz 480v offshore diesel generator to provide power to the main electric propulsion drives of a 3,000 gross tonne PSV (Platform Supply Vessel) when the main generators failed.
Within 18 hours of the call, we had delivered the generator and ancillaries to the vessel in Aberdeen, loaded the equipment on deck, and had the generator commissioned by our team of engineers.
The temporary installation was approved by the vessel’s managers. This enabled the ship to continue its essential operations supporting the offshore gas field, while its own generator systems underwent extensive repairs.
The generator’s control systems were integrated with the vessel’s other generator sets to synchronise and provide a sufficient power plant for the electric drives of the PSV.
The generator remained on board for 3 months while the repairs were made.
