Integrating power support aboard the Saga Pearl II cruise ship
The Saga Pearl II cruise ship required a standby generator while one of the shipâs on-board generators underwent significant repair.
We supplied a 1250kVA containerised offshore diesel generator operating at 440v, 60Hz, to integrate with the vesselâs power system. The containerised generator was supplied to the required offshore specification, which included fire suppression systems, air shut off valves and exhaust spark arrestors.
The generator was supplied with all ancillary cabling and bulk fuel supply to operate on a standby basis with the shipâs existing generators. Our commissioning engineers provided a bespoke control system which integrated with the shipâs existing controls. They also providing a remote mimic control panel within the shipâs engineering control room to allow the vesselâs engineers to have full operational remote control of the generator. It also ensured any alarms could be identified from a remote location.
The generator remained on the cruise ship for 2 months while it sailed around the Mediterranean, until its on-board generators were repaired and reinstated back into commission. On completion of the project, the temporary generator was demobilised into our care in Marseille, France.
